Rebecca Callis Porcelain
Rebecca Callis is a ceramic artist creating timeless, functional porcelain pieces that carry both elegance and everyday usability. After training at Glasgow School of Art and over 30 years of practice, Rebecca has developed a signature style that balances simplicity with painterly detail. Working from her converted Victorian wash-house studio in Kirkbymoorside, she hand-throws porcelain tableware designed to be used, enjoyed, and treasured.
Rebecca describes porcelain as both “unforgiving” and “beautifully practical” — a material that records every touch of the maker’s hand. Her work celebrates this sensitivity, using the clay’s pure white surface as a canvas for brush marks, lines, and abstract impressions inspired by landscapes. The result is a collection of tableware that feels both contemporary and timeless, bringing artistry into the rituals of daily life.
