Visitors will discover not only original works but also an extensive selection of limited edition prints, open edition dog prints, and greetings cards — making his art accessible to a wide audience.
Despite never having formal training, Nolon has been drawing all his life. Inspired by the North Yorkshire countryside, he has built a portfolio that celebrates both domestic companions and wild creatures. Now working full-time as an artist, he regularly exhibits across North Yorkshire and beyond. His growing reputation means that his work is collected not only throughout the UK but internationally, finding its way into homes and galleries where it continues to inspire.
The Helmsley gallery also acts as a space for collaboration and celebration of other makers. Alongside Nolon’s drawings you’ll find exquisite pottery by local ceramicist Elisabeth Bailey and beautifully detailed bronze resin sculptures by John Rattenbury. It’s a place where art and craft come together, giving visitors the chance to enjoy a diverse yet complementary collection under one roof.
Championing local creativity — original art that speaks beyond Helmsley
What makes the Nolon Stacey Gallery stand out is its authenticity: an independent artist working from the heart of Helmsley, inspired by the local landscape, and dedicated to celebrating both his own craft and that of fellow artisans. It’s a gallery that feels connected to the place it calls home.
“Remarkable art.. Nolon Stacey’s pencil work is breathtakingly beautiful.. as I walked in I thought I had entered a photo gallery with the eyes of some sheep opposite looking back at me .. all of the animals, birds and landscapes are meticulously rendered by the artist who was present, very helpful and informative. Thank you Mr. Nolon Stacey. ”
